The initiative was inaugurated at the state level by Chief Minister KCR, who dispatched a delegation to Tamil Nadu to study a similar program. Initially, the scheme targeted students in classes 1 to 5, but it was later revised to include high school students as well.
Explaining the rationale behind the initiative, the chief minister stated, “The core idea behind the scheme is to ensure that no student attends school on an empty stomach, particularly those whose parents work as agriculture laborers and may struggle to provide breakfast for their children. This program aims to not only address hunger but also to offer nutritious meals, enabling students to concentrate better on their studies.”

Features & Benefits of Telangana CM Breakfast Scheme
The Telangana CM Breakfast Scheme marks a significant stride towards providing nutritious meals to students from families engaged in agricultural labor. This progressive initiative is set to benefit around 9 lakh students across 5000 schools. Initially designed for classes 1 to 5, the scheme was expanded to include students up to class 10 following the Chief Minister’s visit to Tamil Nadu.
Operating on all school working days, the scheme not only ensures students receive a healthy breakfast but also eases the burden on working women. By promoting better health among students, the initiative aims to contribute to their mental well-being, fostering an environment conducive to academic excellence.
To avail the benefits of this scheme, students need to be enrolled in a government-aided school. Eligibility is extended to students studying in classes 1 to 10 within the state of Telangana. The scheme is not limited to Tamil Nadu residents; rather, it is open to all students in the state. Notably, students hailing from families involved in agricultural labor also qualify for this initiative. While the scheme was initially applicable only to students in classes 1 to 5, it has been expanded to include students in classes 1 to 10, ensuring a broader reach and impact.
